Community Guidelines

Effective May 16, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026

Overview

SoundOff is a music discovery game for friend groups. These Community Guidelines apply to everything you create on SoundOff — songs you submit, comments you attach to votes, messages you post in league chat, profile information you set, and theme ideas you contribute to polls. By using SoundOff you agree to follow these guidelines.

These guidelines work alongside our Privacy Policy and Apple's Standard EULA (which applies automatically when you use SoundOff on an Apple device).

What's not allowed

These rules govern what you say in chat, what you show in your profile, theme ideas you suggest, and comments you leave on votes. Songs you submit are a separate matter: they're streamed through Apple Music or Spotify under those platforms' content ratings, so explicit lyrics are allowed where those platforms allow them.

We have a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content. You may not use SoundOff to post or share content that:

  • Harasses, threatens, or bullies another person, including slurs, targeted insults, doxxing, or sustained negative attention
  • Constitutes hate speech that attacks or dehumanizes people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or illness
  • Constitutes sexual harassment, including unwanted sexual advances or requests for sexual content. Using sexually explicit content in your profile photo or display name is also prohibited.
  • Depicts, glorifies, or incites violence, self-harm, or suicide
  • Promotes illegal activity such as drug sales, weapons trafficking, fraud, child exploitation, or anything else unlawful where you live
  • Is spam, scams, or unrelated promotional content such as ads, mass mentions, off-topic links, or chain messages
  • Impersonates another person or organization in a way intended to mislead
  • Shares private information about another person without their consent, such as phone numbers, home addresses, or financial details
  • Violates intellectual property rights, including by submitting content you don't own and don't have permission to share
  • Attempts to disrupt the Service, such as scraping at scale, bypassing rate limits or moderation tools, exploiting security vulnerabilities, or manipulating voting outcomes

We may classify other behavior as objectionable at our discretion. The list above is illustrative, not exhaustive.

What we do about violations

When content or behavior violates these guidelines, we may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice:

  • Remove the offending content
  • Issue a warning to the account holder
  • Restrict the account's ability to post, vote, or participate
  • Suspend the account temporarily
  • Terminate the account permanently and ban the user from creating new ones
  • Report illegal content to the appropriate authorities

For serious violations — threats, doxxing, sexual content involving minors, imminent self-harm — we will act immediately and may bypass any warning step. Our decisions are final.

How to report something

If you see content that violates these guidelines:

  • From a chat message: tap the … menu on the message and choose Report message. You can also choose to block the user at the same time
  • For serious or urgent matters, email us at support@playsoundoff.com

We review every report. We aim to act on most reports within 24 hours, and reports involving imminent danger are our highest priority.

Blocking other users

Independent of the report system, you can block any other user at any time. Tap the … menu on one of their messages and choose Block user, or manage your block list from your profile.

When you block someone:

  • Their messages disappear from every league chat you share
  • You stop receiving notifications from any mentions they post about you
  • They can still see your messages and may still be in the same leagues

You can unblock anyone you've blocked from your profile.

Your account

You're responsible for everything posted from your account. Don't share your password, and if you think your account has been compromised, contact us right away.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. When you do, we remove or anonymize your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to these guidelines

We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, give advance notice by email or in-app message. Continued use of SoundOff after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated guidelines.
